The Basic Concepts Of Dental Implants

In all actuality, dental implants are used to describe the procedure where a titanium rod is inserted into your jawbone surgically at the exact site of where the tooth is being replaced. Since Titanium is an inert metal, it is considered to be the metal of choice for anyone considering a dental implant. Unlike the steel, Titanium is used within the early implants that have disastrous results, and doesn't trigger the rejection response of the body, and will actually fuse into the jawbone with absolutely no negative forms of side effects.

A dental implant that is titanium based is really going to strengthen the jawbone with absolutely no side effects. Dental implants that are titanium based will strengthen the jawbone because of the stress of chewing and biting with the implant is going to increase the density of the bone.

Should You Consider Dental Implants

In the event that you are capable of making it through a tooth extraction without any type of complication, you more than likely can handle going through a dental implant. On the other hand, if you have any type of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease, have gum disease, are a smoker, or have either undergone radiation therapy on your head or neck, you are going to need to take the time to be evaluated a little bit closer in order to determine whether or not the dental implants are going to be a good idea.

Keep in mind that the success rates that are associated with dental implants are going to depend on the actual location of the teeth that they are replacing, with a dental implant that replaces one of the lower front teeth have a much higher chance of succeeding than one that is used to replace the upper rear teeth. In nineteen out of every twenty cases, the dental implants that deal with the lower front, while every seventeen out of twenty cases of dental implants associated with the upper rear teeth are successful.

Procedures Related to Dental Implants

Normally, the dental implant procedure is going to occur within three phases that will occur over a period of nine months to a year. Within the first phase, the dentist is going to make an incision within the gum where the tooth is going to be replaced, then there is going to be a hole drilled into the jawbone, and a titanium rod will be inserted. For a period of three to six months, the patient is going to need to heal, during this time; the implant road and jawbone will fuse.

For all of those that no longer desire to struggle within maintaining their deteriorating teeth, dental implants are the perfect solution.
